On Saturday 20 May, about 20 UEN member came together in the Meijendel dunes of Wassenaar.
We met in front of the Dunea visitor center De Tapuit. There we also met our guide Hans, a ranger working for Dunea and responsible for the Meijendel Dunes.
Hans guided us through the dunes and stopped here and then to tell us something about the nature around, animals in the dunes etc. Then we left the beaten tracks and went into the “forbidden for public” area where we saw the sweet water reservoirs of Dunea. A fantastic sight, all of us were amazed how beautiful the area was. Hans told us about the water filtering procedures applied by Dunea so that The Hague and surrounding areas can enjoy the drinking water only filtered through dune sands.
It was a very interesting walk with spectacular sights and the weather played along nicely.
