The 17th-century Hof van Wouw will hold a Garden Day, the so-called Orange Apple Day, on Saturday, 16 June. This beautiful garden is open to the public only a few times a year.
Hof van Wouw
The programme includes a guided tour of the authentic courtyard with almshouses, the Garden of the Hesperides, the greenhouse and a visit to the trustees’ house dating from 1647.
There will also be information on how exotic plants are cared for during the winter in a greenhouse (orangerie).
You can enjoy a drink, sandwiches and homemade cake on the patio. A number of homemade crafts, like jams, cards, calendars and fruity liqueurs will be on sale. All the proceeds from the day will go towards the upkeep of Garden of Hesperides.
About the garden
The orange trees with their fragrant blossoms and special rare culinary fruits and (nearly) forgotten vegetables and herbs make it worth your while to take a walk through the Garden of the Hesperides (Tuin der Hesperiden).
The Orange Apple Day takes place from 11.00 to 17.00 hrs. on Saturday, 16 June in the Hof van Wouw (Lange Beestenmarkt 49-85) in The Hague.
The entrance costs € 3.50 per person and is free for children under 12 years.
