Open Air Theatre @ Vondelpark

From June through September every year, the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre presents a programme packed with festivals, dance, cabaret, jazz, children’s theatre, stand-up comedy and all genres of music.

Cultural fun for everyone

Head to the Open Air Theatre in the Vondelpark to catch unique summertime performances. From 5 June until 8 September 2019 you’ll find a lot going on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Entry is free, although all voluntary donations are appreciated. During May and September 2019, there are special events, markets and one-off festivals taking place.

Theatrical heritage

Amsterdam’s Vondelpark is steeped in musical and theatrical history. The ‘Vondelpark Parties’ were organised in the park and the Music Pavilion and Vondelpark Stage both hosted music, operetta and dance performances over the years. The Vondelpark Open Air Theatre sprang into life in 1974, combining the ‘Vondelpark Parties’ and so-called ‘Happenings’ – the name given to the performances organised at the time.

De Parade – Moving Open Air Theatre @ Museum Park

In the summer of 2019, theatre festival The Parade travels through the Netherlands for the 29th year. The festival kicks off in Rotterdam, and from there it will continue its journey with colorful tents, restaurants and terrace cafes to The Hague and Utrecht, before winding up in Amsterdam.

The Parade offers something for everyone, with over 80 different theatre, music, and dance performances for all ages. Café Correct and Katrina will host free music every night, and visitors are invited to enjoy cocktails, soul food, BBQs and much more at one of the many terrace cafes.

Performances that are suitable for non-Dutch-speakers are indicated with a LNP logo (Language No Problem).

These are artistic, exciting, intense, poetic, angry, funny, eccentric, absurd, political, and outrageous feature films with important contemporary theme’s, from all over the world. What these movies have in common is that we will definitely be hearing more from their creators in the future.

More Than Movies
This event offers more than movies; there’s plenty to do during the day as well! Previous years delighted visitors with vintage markets, party’s and a kids program. There’s also food, drinks and music on the roof terrace. What the program and location will be like this year hasn’t been announced yet. Get ready for the weekend on Friday at De Geheime Tuin. Be there at the opening of the exhibitions and dance with Rotterdam’s finest dj’s. Saturday you can indulge yourself with some interesting readings, enjoy live music and dance. Finish you weekend on Sunday with some yoga, relaxing in the garden or join a very special diner.

Celebrating its 28th edition in 2019, Westerpop is often recognised as one of the nicest festivals in the Netherlands. The ideal location, close to the historical centre of Delft, attracts approximately 15.000 visitors every year. This year’s Westerpop features an international podium, with musicians which will be announced soon!

A free music festival in Delft

Westerpop is a free music festival that attracts over 15.000 visitors every year. Located near Delft’s centre, Westerpop hosts bands from all over the world. This year will be no exception. On the Sunday, there will also be a market next to the festival offering locally-produced food.

Plan your visit to Westerpop

Admission is free! All you have to consider is who to go with and how to get there. Due to the very limited availability of parking around the Molenhuispad, the best way to get to the event is by public transport. If you are coming from another part of Delft, it’s a great idea to cycle to the venue. Bicycle parks are set up for the event which will be open for the duration of the festival.

Biggest Flea Market @ IJ Hallen

The IJ-Hallen is the biggest and most unique flea market in Europe and is located in the most densely populated area of The Netherlands. Because of the size of the market, supply and demand are perfectly balanced and you will have a great chance of finding what you are looking for. The IJ-Hallen is recommended to anyone who loves flea markets and great bargains.

Free parking
There is a free parking opportunity opposite to Papaverweg 50, 1032 KJ Amsterdam. From there you can go to the IJ-Hallen via the bridge by foot. It will be appoximately a 3-minute walk. Another option is parking closer to the market. However, parking fees are required there for visitors, which cost from 9am € 1,30 per hour and €7,80 a daycard. The choice is yours. The free NDSM-ferry from Amsterdam Central Station makes your visit definitely worthwhile.
Entrance fee is € 5,00 and only € 2,00 for kids aged 11 or younger.

The Summer Carnival Street Parade is back!
More than 2.500 dancers, 25 carnival groups and 30 floats can’t wait to mash up the streets of Rotterdam city! It all goes down the 27th of July. The summer carnival street parade will unleash all built up energy and that means an explosion of color, joy, music and creativity in a parade of spectacular floats. The summer carnival street parade is back! A parade with only one mission; make you dance! The summer carnival street parade is the largest caribbean street party in the Netherlands and everyone is invited.

 The festive parade will take off at Blaak, then proceeds through the Schiedamsedijk. Schilderstraat, Witte de Withstraat, past the Museumpark to the Nieuwe Binnenweg, and then ending up again at Blaak via the Mauritsweg, the Weena, the Kruiskade, the Karel Doormanstraat and Westblaak. The various stages, of which the performances of, among others, The New Power Generation, Femi Kuti and Frenna & 777 Band, can be found this year on Hofplein, Weena and Schouwburgplein.

Milan Summer Festival @ Zuiderpark

The largest outdoor Hindustani festival in Europe will take place on the fields of The Hague’s Zuiderpark at the weekend from 2-4 August . This enormously popular annual event highlights the culture and language of immigrants originating from India and Pakistan and Hindustani from Suriname.

Milan Summer Festival
The Milan Festival is actually a gigantic outdoor fair where you can experience Indian culture, Surinamese food and products and a tropical community get-together. The festival is a voyage of discovery where your senses will be stimulated by a programme full of entertainment and cultural shows.

The programme
You can go to town trying the delicious food and drinks sold at stands at the exotic market, but there are also bumper cars, candyfloss and tons of information stands. This festival aims to encourage the participation and integration of immigrants in the Netherlands.

Live music and dance performances will take place throughout the 3 festival days, featuring a number of well-known Hindustani musicians and dancers as well as other kinds of music and dance including pop, jazz, salsa and breakdancing.

A spectacular fireworks display will conclude the festival on Sunday evening.

History
The outdoor festival Milan was founded in 1984 as a Surinamese event to encourage interaction and cooperation between people and cultures. This festival attracts some 35,000 visitors – not only Hindustani but an increasing number of Dutch, Turkish and Moroccan people as well.

The Milan Festival is open on Fridays, from 16.00 to 23.00 hrs., on Saturdays from 14.00 to 23.00 hrs. and Sundays from 13.00 to 23.00 hrs.

Online tickets for the Milan Festival cost € 3,50 a day (slightly more expensive at the festival itself). Children under the age of 5 years are free. There are also free tickets available, max two per person and then you have to enter the festival already in the first hour.

Welcome to the 6th Blijdorp Festival!

Blijdorp combines ‘Music, Art & Happiness’ at its events, with the summer edition as an annual highlight. Join us for our 6th summer edition, where the Roel Langerakpark will host a green land of discovery, with stages set amongst its forests and alongside its lake.

This year, we explore the park’s hidden treasures. Yardbird and Desperados are hosting the ultimate party arena and we are adding a long awaited, full size Techno stage to the bill. Come to World Cinema Amsterdam in the Open Air and enjoy a perfect film evening under the starry night sky. World Cinema Amsterdam screens films at four locations in the open air.

All films at the Vondelpark and the Marie Heinekenplein are free, yet all voluntary donations are very welcomed! Films start when it is dark around 9.30 pm.

Artis in the evening – Saturday evenings in June/July/August

In June, July and August, ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo will be open every Saturday until sunset. These late openings will feature kids’ activities, performances by new musical talent as well as established artists and special events at the Planetarium. Off to ARTIS!

Picnic in the grass, get a curry from the stand near de Hazelaar or order a pizza from our outdoor kitchen. Discover how plants keep you and the world around you healthy or get hands-on with greenery at one of the workshops. Round off the evening with a special guided tour of the park at twilight.

The name ZOOmeravonden is a play on words with Zoo and Zomer, the Dutch for summer, while ‘avonden’ means evenings. The Artis Royal Zoo is just east of the city’s centre. For more information visit the Artis Royal Zoo website.

Great sales and a great atmosphere at the Ij Hallen Flea Market

The IJ-Hallen is the biggest and most unique flea market in Europe and is located in the most densely populated area of The Netherlands. Because of the size of the market, supply and demand are perfectly balanced and you will have a great chance of finding what you are looking for. The IJ-Hallen is recommended to anyone who loves flea markets and great bargains.

Free parking
There is a free parking opportunity opposite to Papaverweg 50, 1032 KJ Amsterdam. From there you can go to the IJ-Hallen via the bridge by foot. It will be appoximately a 3-minute walk. Another option is parking closer to the market. However, parking fees are required there for visitors, which cost from 9am € 1,30 per hour and €7,80 a daycard. The choice is yours. The free NDSM-ferry from Amsterdam Central Station makes your visit definitely worthwhile.
Entrance fee is € 5,00 and only € 2,00 for kids aged 11 or younger.

 This summer we are back with the 4th edition of our outdoor festival.

The outdoor stage will be located alongside the river Maas, overlooking the industrial port. A big warehouse will replace the infamous festival tent. This location also offers us to expand our festival by adding a proper 3rd techno area.
