Kurhausplein on Ice
In front of the famous Kurhaus Hotel you will find the beautiful 600 square metre covered ice skating rink. The skating rink is open every day from 10.00 to 22.00 hrs. There are other opening hours in effect during the public holidays on 24, 25 and 31 December and on 1 January.
Admission to the ice skating rink costs € 6.00. Skates are available for hire for € 5.00 a pair and you will also need to leave a deposit of € 10.00. Gloves or mittens are required.
A warm drink
Take a seat at one of the outdoor cafes (with heating) around the square and enjoy a delicious meal or glass of mulled wine or mug of hot chocolate. This winter the restaurants around the square are offering the Kurhausplein deal with meals and ice skating (including the skate rental).

November, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) transforms Amsterdam’s city centre into a paradise for documentary film fans.
IDFA treats documentary lovers to the latest and greatest domestic and international arrivals from the documentary film world. No other festival brings together so many great films, devoted fans and talented film-makers in one place, making IDFA one of the world’s leading documentary film festivals. The films presented at IDFA all tell extraordinary stories about life – often revealing and moving, they can also be shocking or funny.
A global perspective
With hundreds of international documentaries on offer, IDFA’s programming provides a look at the world from a variety of unique perspectives. Taking viewers to some of the world’s poorest and wealthiest places, the documentaries featured are often as poetic as they are powerful.
The complete programme can be found on the IDFA website. A large proportion of the film screenings are in English or with English subtitles.
