At the beginning of the year I had a meeting with Natascha Huige, Managing Director of International Mental Health Services and she has provided me with information below about their services.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Do you feel isolated or have difficulties adapting?

Finding your way and getting used to life in a new country brings a host of mixed feelings with it. You can feel very excited at the new adventure and all it brings, but the move can also be hugely challenging. There is so much to be organised and sorted out as well as working out how things are done the Dutch way. You may feel like you have no support to guide you through the maze of administration, help you look for leisure activities and sport clubs, let alone build a new social network. And you may feel that the way that Dutch person treated you when you asked for help or information was very direct, even rude and uninterested in being helpful which can add frustration to your feelings of isolation.

Feeling lost, alone and like you are having difficulty coping are common reactions in the face of such challenges. You may also feel guilty about having loved ones far away and miss the support of the people you would naturally turn to at times of stress or difficulty.

If you are feeling isolated, overwhelmed and unable to cope it might be time for some professional help.
